Applications for CERT Training

The Hamden Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be conducting a free Basic 8-Week, 20 Hour Training Course starting on Thursday, September 12th, 2024
at the Dunbar Hill Fire Station #8, 420 Dunbar Hill Road in Hamden.

Hamden CERT is now accepting applications for this free 8-week course that will be conducted once a week, on Thursdays, starting at 6:30 p.m. for approximately 2 ½ hours.

The free CERT Training Course is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has an interest in helping themselves, their loved ones, neighbors or co-workers during emergencies and preplanned community events. The training will consist of: Basic & Disaster First Aid, Light Search and Rescue Techniques, Control of Home Utilities, Fire Extinguisher Training, Traffic Safety, along with the Goals and Protocols of the FEMA Sponsored, Nationally Recognized, CERT Program.

the Office of the Fire Chief, 2372 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518 no later than Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024.

During any major incident, emergency service personnel (911) may not be able to reach everyone right away. By taking this training, you will have the skills and tools to help emergency responders save lives and protect property during any emergencies at home, school, your workplace, and in the community.

At the completion of this course, you will be more familiar with our local police and fire department operations, and you will also gain your Nationally Recognized FEMA Certification, which will qualify you to join our Hamden CERT Team!
