The Friends of the Hamden Library brings together individuals with a strong belief in the value of our public library. We provide the Library with crucial monetary support, advocate for the Library in town hall and legislative council meetings, encourage participation in Library programs, and generally spread the word about the great services and value the Hamden Public Library brings to our community.

Our used bookstore, Second Hand Prose, located on the lower level of Miller Library, is a major fundraising effort of the Friends. Currently open five days a week, the bookstore is entirely volunteer-run.

All proceeds for Friends’ membership and fundraising efforts directly benefit the Hamden Public Library. In the past five years, we have given the Library over $65k to provide funding for:

Passes to area museums, zoos, and aquariums

Print and digital BookPage, a reader’s resource

Entertaining, inspiring, and educational programs for children and adults

Supplies and materials for special programs and librarian initiatives

Please consider becoming a Friend of the Hamden Public Library. Your support will make a lasting difference.

Pick up a membership envelope at the library or download and complete this form. We thank you for joining the library’s biggest fan club!
