You can register for a library card in person or online.
In Person Cards
Visit any Hamden library with your photo ID showing your current Hamden address, or a Photo ID with another form of proof of address: e.g. a bill or other “official” mail, checkbook, insurance card or paystub. Call us when you get here at 203-287-2682. (Or call the branch you are visiting- Brundage 203-287-2675, Whitneyville 203-287-2677) We’ll meet you at the lobby table to get your ID, and ask for your phone number and email address. We’ll issue you a three year card.
We’re available to help you with your card M-F 10-1 and 3-5:30, Saturdays 9:30-12:30 and 1-2:30.
You can also renew your card in person for a 3-year expiration date. Otherwise, all library cards in good standing have been renewed through Dec, 31, 2021.
You can receive a temp0rary card online. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, including the following:
Subject Line: New library card
Please allow 24 hours for us to process your registration. Staff will email you with your card number, and you will be able to use your account to access all our online resources. Your temporary account will be good through August 31st, 2021.
To receive a permanent card, you will need to visit the Hamden Library to verify your name and address. At that time, you will receive a permanent library card with a three year expiration date.
