OVERDUE! Hamden Reading Challenge 2026

Tired of reading the same old, same old? Looking to read more diversely or try something new, but don’t know where to start?

Join the OVERDUE Reading Challenge! Curated by HPL Librarians, this annual challenge dares readers and patrons to add some variety to their TBR.

How it works:

  1. Pick up a challenge tracker at any Hamden Library location
  2. Read a book that fits a prompt (if you think a book fits, so do we!)
  3. Every 5 prompts completed earns a small prize! Bring your tracker to the library to select your prize(s)
  4. Every 3 categories completed earns one medium prize
  5. Complete all 50 prompts by December 31, 2026 to win a grand prize!
