You can register for a library card in person or online.

In Person Cards

Visit any Hamden library with your photo ID showing your current Hamden address, or a Photo ID with another form of proof of address: e.g. a bill or other “official” mail, checkbook, insurance card or paystub. We’ll issue you a three year card.

Renewal

You can also renew your card in person for a 3-year expiration date.

Online Cards

Hamden residents whose addresses can be verified can receive 3 year library card that will provide you access to all of the library’s online resources. You can visit one of our branch locations to get a physical card, which can be used at any public library in Connecticut.

If your Hamden address can’t be verified, you can still receive a 3 month temporary card online. Your temporary card provides access to the library’s online resources.

To receive a full service, 3 year card, you will need to visit the Hamden Library  to verify your name and address. At that time, you will receive a permanent library card with a three year expiration date.
