The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) publish the Fuel Economy Guide each year to help consumers make informed decisions when purchasing a vehicle. The Guide features information on fuel economy, annual fuel cost, and emission for new model year cars, SUVs, and light trucks.
The electronic file for the 2024 Fuel Economy Guide is periodically updated with new vehicle and fuel price information.
The 2023 Fuel Economy Guide is also available as physical reference material at the Miller Memorial Library information desk.
DOE and EPA have also developed the fuel economy website, www.fueleconomy.gov. The website features updated fuel economy data for new and used passenger vehicles dating back to 1984, allows side-by-side vehicle comparisons, and offers fuel-saving tips. The website also contains vehicle-specific air pollution emissions information and safety ratings and provides links to car buying websites.
