Hamden Public Library’s summer reading program will begin registrations on June 26th.
Come to the Library between 6 and 7 pm on the 26th to sign up for the summer reading game and receive a free bookmark and pencil. Yale’s Peabody Museum will be on hand with rock and fossil specimens for kids to touch and examine up close. Meet Flippity the Clown and see what she’s been up to.
Then at 7:00pm our big kick off show “Magical Moments” with entertainer Ed Popielarczyk begins with comedy and magic for the whole family! Ed’s philosophy on magic is to entertain first and amaze second, so a good time will be had by all.
Readers of all ages will explore all things underground this summer with our “Dig Into Reading” summer library program. Activities will include Making an Egyptian “sarcophagus”, and a “Mud Monster” , Summer science programs on rocks, lava, fossils and even subterranean animals, as well as Storytime every Friday at 10:30 and music and movement for toddlers Wednesday mornings.
The 2013 Summer Reading Program is open to all young people from preschool through middle school and includes programs, prizes, science, crafts and more. It is free of charge. For more information call the library at 203-230-3770.
