American Red Cross

The American Red Cross offers a variety of health and safety courses to meet your training needs. Choose from courses in Adult CPR, Infant and Child CPR, Standard First Aid, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Babysitter's Training, aquatics programs, and more.

During a disaster, the Red Cross may be able to help with:
Food, clothing and emergency shelter
Urgent household needs
Emotional support
Information about and referrals to other community services

Hamden Elderly Services

The Elderly Services Department functions as the central resource center for information on programs, activities and services for elderly residents 60 years of age and older. The department also provides information and referral assistance to individuals and families caring for elderly relatives. The department oversees the operation of the Miller Senior Center, a multi-purpose facility located at 2901 Dixwell Avenue. Elderly Services also administers the Senior Transportation Program and the Elderly Outreach Office.

Hamden Youth Services Bureau

The Hamden Youth Services Bureau seeks to improve the quality of life for the children, youth and families of Hamden by providing a variety of programs and services. The Bureau creates and fosters opportunities for Hamden youth and their families to learn and grow in positive ways.

Keefe Center

Located at the M.L. Keefe Community Center in the heart of southern Hamden, Community Services has a staff of five full-time employees. In addition to Town funding, Community Services received a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which allows the department to assist residents in avoiding evictions, foreclosures and utility service interruptions.

Quinnipiack Valley Health District

The mission of Quinnipiack Valley Health District (QVHD) is to protect the residents of Bethany, Hamden, North Haven and Woodbridge, Connecticut from disease, injury and environmental health hazards through prevention, education, enforcement and collaboration.
